　再発を好まない彼らは、その話を何度も拒んできた。そうこうしている間に、彼らの3枚目のアルバムはより熟成されていった。本作は、当時のメンバーのザラザラとした内面を掘り下げたものだ。マイケル・スタイプがつぶやく願いのようなフレーズは、このバンドに関する歴史と記憶をよみがえらせる。列車や仕事にまつわる曲が２曲あるが、どちらも悲しい老人をテーマにした歌でもある。
