トッド・スナイダーの中身の濃いストーリー仕立ての曲は、きわめて鮮明かつ抜け目がない。後悔知らずの楽しげな殺人犯（「アンオーガナイズド・クライム」）が登場し、丘の上で囚われの身となったトラブル・メーカー（「グリーンキャッスル・ブルース」）は、ブルージーなギターとハーモニカ、ラグタイム風ピアノ・ロックに身を任せる。だが、最も強烈なキャラクターはスナイダー本人だろう。
